Neap — Privacy Policy
Weather: Between Us is now Neap. Same app, same company, same policy — the name changed, nothing about how your data is handled did.

Neap is a tool for two people in a relationship. It is private by design — not a social network, not an advertising business. This document explains exactly what we collect, why, who can see it, and what you can do about it.
If you ever want a copy of your data, email support@irons.la and we will handle it within seven days. You can delete your account yourself, in the app, at any time.
Who we are
Neap is operated by Irons Software. Contact: support@irons.la.
The short version
- We store your email address (for sign-in), an optional display name, and the entries you create in the app (check-ins, notices, pauses, phrases, repairs, love notes and the photos attached to them, and — if you turn it on — cycle data).
- Your entries live on your account on our server, not only on your phone. That is what lets them come back when you sign in on a new device, and it is why losing your phone does not lose your history.
- The only people who can ever see your entries are you and the partner you have explicitly paired with.
- We collect anonymized crash reports through Sentry to fix bugs. These reports contain no journal text, no entry content, and no identifying information.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not show advertising. We do not use your entries to train AI models.
- We may use de-identified, aggregated information — patterns across many accounts, never your entries and never anything that identifies you — to understand how the app is used and to improve it.
What we collect, and why
Account data

Your entries
Everything you type, tap, or log inside Neap:
- Daily check-ins (mood, feelings, descriptions, reflection responses)
- Notices (somatic signals, intensity, optional notes)
- Pauses (duration, completion)
- High-impact phrases (which phrase, who said it, optional context)
- Repairs (kind, optional notes)
- Love notes (the text you wrote, and any photo you attach)
- Cycle data (if you enable cycle tracking — cycle start date, length, and a privacy preference that controls how much of it your partner sees)
We collect this because it is the product. Without it, Neap has nothing to show you.
Photos
Photos you attach to a love note are uploaded to a private storage bucket on our backend and are readable only by you and your paired partner, through short-lived signed links. We do not scan them, index them, or use them for anything other than showing them back to the two of you. Neap asks for photo-library access only at the moment you choose a photo, and only for the photo you choose.
Pairing data
- A six-digit pairing invite (single-use, expires after thirty days, and revocable at any time from the pairing screen).
- The link between you and the partner you pair with.
Device data
- A Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token, if you opt into push notifications, so we can deliver them (pause called, pause ended, partner checked in, love note received, a nudge from your partner). Quiet hours are honored.
- Daily check-in reminders are scheduled on your device itself and are not sent through any server.
Crash data
- We use Sentry for crash reporting. Sentry receives a stack trace, the operating-system version (iOS or Android), the app version, and a randomized install ID. It does not receive your email, your name, any entry content, any breadcrumbs that could include your data, or your partner's information. We have specifically disabled breadcrumbs and
extra payloads in Sentry to make sure of this.
What we deliberately do NOT collect
- Advertising identifiers (we do not advertise)
- Your contacts
- Your photo library (only the individual photos you choose to attach)
- Your location (beyond the time zone you set in your profile)
- Your microphone or camera
- Advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs
- Third-party product-analytics SDKs (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, and the like)
Who can see your data
- You, always.
- Your paired partner, only for entries you have marked as shared. Some entry types (check-ins, phrases, love notes) are shared by design — the app makes this visible in the UI. Other types (notices) are private by default and only promote to shared when you tap "share with partner".
- Us (Irons Software), through our backend provider (Supabase), which stores data encrypted at rest and in transit. A small number of engineers may need access to the database for incident response. We never read entries casually.
- Sentry, only the de-identified crash reports described above.
- Apple (on iOS, via APNs) and Google (on Android, via Firebase Cloud Messaging), when delivering push notifications. They receive the partner's display name and the short notification line (e.g. "J called a pause. Back at 8:47."). Neither receives any longer-form entry content.
We may derive de-identified, aggregated statistics from activity across many accounts — never your entry content, and never in a form that can be traced back to you or your partner.
How long we keep it
- Live entries: until you delete them or delete your account.
- Soft-deleted entries: thirty days, then permanently removed.
- Pairing invites: thirty days, or until consumed or revoked.
- FCM tokens: until your device unregisters or you sign out.
- Crash reports: ninety days (Sentry default).
If you delete your account, your entries, your love-note photos and your side of the partnership are removed immediately, and backups age out within thirty days.
Your rights
- Access: ask us for a copy of your data.
- Correction: edit anything in-app where the app allows; for anything else, email us.
- Deletion: delete individual entries in-app, or delete your entire account from Settings → Delete account. That removes your entries, your photos and your account itself — no email to us required.
- Unpair: unlink from your partner at any time in Settings. Unpairing is reversible. While you are unpaired, neither of you can see anything of the other's — including entries shared while you were paired. If the two of you pair again later, the history you shared during that partnership becomes visible again. Either of you can delete your own entries at any time, which removes them for good.
- Push notifications: turn off any time in your device's system settings (iOS or Android) or in the app.
If you live in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA — including the right to portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Email support@irons.la to exercise any of these.
Children
Neap is not designed for or directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age. If we learn that a child has signed up, we will delete the account.
Changes
If we change this policy materially, we will update the date above and notify you in-app before the change takes effect.
